DATABYTE - CHRIS FIELD1.30 -8.30pm – Lower Gallery – durational installation/one to one
Christopher Field is an article of the public domain. He is also a liar. Christopher Field, member of the Open Access Foundation, presents databyte, a durational installation exploring the division of public and private institutions. He will seek to present himself wholly and without restriction. He will not succeed. Through challenging the mortality of his data counterpart, he will see himself reborn in the shards of his private information. Can an individual truly sacrifice their identity to find a new, fictional existence instead? Sponsored by The Open Access Foundation Warning: this piece contains nudity SOCK IT TO ME - FRANCES PARSONS3.00 – 7.00pm – Scott Room - a durational/participatory performance - come & go at leisure
11 Socks, 11 Chances to Make a Difference A rough sleeper is defined as a person sleeping in places not designed for habitation. The charity Crisis is clear that “Rough sleeping ruins lives...taking a dreadful toll on mental and physical health.” Foot problems are common among rough sleepers, but are often overlooked. Socks, a simple and relatively cheap item of clothing, can make such a positive difference to the health of a rough sleeper, yet research from charities suggests that socks are one of the least donated items. Throughout the duration of Sock it to Me, I intend to knit eleven pairs of socks; a pair for each rough sleeper identified in the Tower Hamlets survey, creating something that can lead to the improvement in the life chances of others, in which you are able to help and obtain sock appeal information. Any sock donations would be appreciated. MOTION - ALINAPustai

The world I live in is the same as yours. The only difference is I don’t have control over it. The piece I will be showing represents my life and struggle with bipolar disorder; what it means to not have control over your actions and how this influences and affects everyday life. I want to expose my battle with this disorder because I want to expose myself, my life, and what I’m living with in order to feel free and accepted the way I am. |

Wet in the blood of Jesus and stuffed with the flesh of Christ you may now be re-baptised. Searching for a sense of identity Papas meddles between Greek Christian Orthodoxy and Black Metal as a way through which she rediscovers practices of faith through her own rituals. Exhibiting her blasphemous displays to inform others of the traditions she was raised in, she incorporates footage of the celebratory traditions which had a haunting effect on her. With a touch of sarcasm and irony she fights the suffocating guilt she felt for her anatomy, caused by the church. Dark and atmospheric, blasting Black Metal, a rebellious act of resistance is demonstrated against her very own name which was given to her during the rite of her baptism when she was a baby. The volunteering sheep (spectators) will assist her priesthood practices. With the help of red flashing lighting and fishnet stockings, Papas aims to be re-baptised in her own identity. We learn who we are by copying others…and sometimes your greatest influence is a mouse dressed in polka dots. Everything becomes difficult when you are hybrid like me. When it comes to filling out my ethnic background on a form, I freak out. I am Indian, but that’s not all I am, I am not white (why is there a ‘white’ category, and not a ‘brown’ one?), so I am not allowed to tick the English box. My family jokingly call me a coconut, but there is no box for that. So, I go for Indian. But that is not all I am. I call myself a hybrid (a thing made by combining two different elements), because although I am of one race, I have two cultures. My performance is an insight into how I react to the world around me, exploring the contradictions that have influenced who I am today. Thanks to: Louise Webb for music editing & my mum for finding every polka dot item the world has to offer |

‘boys2boy’ is certainly a household name. After their dominance in the charts from 2002-2012, everyone knows them, their lyrics, and their look. But where are they now? This piece asks the question on everyone’s minds: “whatever happened to boys2boy?” In this piece Jack Ridley explores identity and the creative process through sonic performance, music culture, and persona. Using Radio techniques, the performance is broadcast to the audience through wireless headphones, as Presenter Ray J. Dileck takes us on a retrospective of the boy band ‘boys2boy’ who dominated the charts for a decade before announcing their hiatus. Leaving no turn-table un-turned, Dileck presents an insider look into not only the success of the band, but also what went into the formation of such an iconic group, the many conspiracy theories around why they have not yet returned from their hiatus, and where exactly they are now. Before there is balance, there has to be an imbalance The journey the Sintertainer will take you all on, will establish the shift between the good and the bad. Where struggle,is a focal point, the Sintertainer will show how love and health can become different meanings based on audience participation and interaction. What I present to you will be intimate, yet distant, distinctive yet ambiguous. Based on the YIN-YANG, I'll be delivering the best of both worlds. The meaning of yin yang and the symbol backdate to ancient China. The symbol represents the belief that everything in the universe consists of two forces that are opposing but complementary. The Sintertainer is interested to find out how “complementary” forces can be challenged on stage, whether through physicality, contrasting aesthetics or the artists verbal agreement with the audience being manipulated and challenged throughout the performance.
